In this week's Off the Cuff podcast, Chris and Gregor discuss:

  • Unjust Wealth Inequality
    • Growing by money printing vs. productive output
  • The Evils of Reflationary Policy
    • Stealing from the many to reward the few
  • Our Low-Growth Future
    • Less to go around
  • Local Solutions
    • Where hope lies

In this week's wide-ranging podcast, Chris and Gregor look into the future and extrapolate where current trends will bring us.

Of great concern to both is the widening wealth gap in the West, especially in the U.S. The reflationary policies our central banks are pursuing disproportionately reward those already with the assets being inflated (e.g., $150 million Warhol paintings) and those, like banks, with first access to newly created currency.

But central banks appear trapped on their current courses. So greater disparity is expected in the future until things really break. It's not fair; but it looks likely.

On a more positive side, despite the very real constraints that will force our economy to grow more slowly in the future than it has in the past, Gregor and Chris are seeing examples of new sensible, sustainable solutions crop up at the state and grassroots levels.
