The entire convention was an odd mix of envy, resentment, and whipping up false fears about the people on the other side.
But Harris’ speech was 2/3rds empty rhetoric, 1/3rd hating on what she projected Trump might be or do, and 0/3rds actionable, evaluable policies.
Here are a few things that weren’t mentioned:
- Any mention of the deficits DC is running
- Any plan for containing spending
- No mention of defense budgets or plans
- Nothing at all about energy or energy policy
- No plans for infrastructure repair
- No mention of the US’s terrible standing on such basics as educational attainment or life expectancy
- Nothing at all about ruinous increases in insurance costs
- Nothing about inflation.
- Nothing at all about ending all the various wars the US is supporting
- No mention of the fentanyl crisis and the implied crisis of despair
The assembled faithful at the DNC convention seemed like props to me, like clapping seals in a sad Sea World matinee show.
