Israel launched a quite impressive cross-border attack using compromised pagers to cause a lot of damage. All at once.
Naturally, this will incite retaliation, the only questions are (1) how much – proportional or an escalation – and, (2) will the US end up getting dragged into the affair as a result?
I am 100% against getting involved in any more wars especially those in service of other countries where the goals aren’t clear and nobody can articulate what success might look like.
One more question; why now?
Presumably b because somebody thought that after months of very careful planning and stealthy placement that ‘now’ was the right time to hit the button. Perhaps the jig was up and they thought the scheme had been uncovered so it was ‘now or never.’
Alternatively, this was the prelude to ‘something more.’
