Building material capital and a deep set of skills is essential towards becoming truly resilient.

Material Capital can be seen as all the things in and around your home.  They are your tools, your solar panels, and the house itself.  They are, in a word, things.  Not only do these things have utility, but they will often times provide a financial return on investment that can exceed traditional investments.  For example, investing in solar energy instead of the latest tech stock may yield recurring savings in addition to the peace of mind knowing that you produce your own energy.

Material Capital is often the stereotypical "preps" you hear about.  That's why on this page you'll find many of my go-to resources for resilience and preparedness items I keep around my homestead.

Knowledge Capital refers to the skills you acquire.  It is what you are able to do yourself.  In today's hyper-specialized world, many people are lacking what used to be considered basic life skills.  Building know-how is crucial towards being able to thrive in difficult times.  It also affords you confidence in daily life and a sense of accomplishment.
