The big news: on Friday at 8:30 am EST, CPI came in hot: +1.0% m/m, or an incredible +12% if you annualize the number versus last month’s +0.3% m/m. This really moved the markets, some charged higher, others plunged. For the most part, it was a risk-off move.
The buck had a huge rally – up +1.96% on the week, with half of the move happening on Friday. My guess: the banksters saw this print coming. They probably had models that sniffed it out. And/or they got hints from within the system. This is why we like to watch prices. The well-connected banksters have the story days before we do, but the secret tends to leak out via price moves in the hard-to-control market segments.
Where did the money flowing into the buck go? Well, it didn’t go into the 10-year, where rates shot higher, especially on Friday. The 10-year rose +20 bp to end the week at 3.16%. The last time we saw 3.16% in the 10-year yield was 2018. And the associated 30-year mortgage rate is now at 5.23%. That’s the highest 30-year rate since 2009. That probably won’t help housing prices very much.
Money also fled crappy debt, which did terribly – JNK fell all week long. If there was any clue as to how this CPI read was going to play out for risk assets, crappy debt provided the “coal mine canary” answer. The weekly drop for JNK was -3.94%, a massive plunge. Someone got the news in advance here too, it seems.
Money also fled equities, with SPX falling -5.32%. The gap-down open on Friday, along with the close-at-the-lows was definitely not a positive sign for equities. (Black marubozu candles – Friday’s SPX print – don’t mark lows very often.) The sector map was bearish: financials (-7.19%), tech (-6.79%), and REITs (-6.49%) led lower. Model shows a downtrend in all timeframes.
Given the plunge in risk assets – which seem to be projecting a lot more rate increases ahead by the Fed – gold did extremely well. Gold was enthusiastically pounded by “someone” – twice – after release on Friday, only to recover strongly, and end the day up +25; it was a $50+ trading range. Silver had a similar experience, although its snap-back rally wasn’t nearly as strong.
While gold/USD rose by +1.28% [+23.78] for the week, with all the gains coming on Friday, gold/Euros did even better, jumping up +3.24% [+56.13] on the week. Gold/Euros looks extremely strong, which is quite unusual; gold usually does very poorly when the buck rallies. But not this time.
Even after the strong Friday rally, Gold OI closed the week at a 10-month low. This suggests that the banksters do NOT want to be short gold.
For now at least, gold looks very strong.
Crude was largely unchanged [-0.25% on the week], while copper fell hard, losing -4.25%. “Doctor Copper” (which market legend tells us it can forecast the “health” of risk assets) does appear to be in a downtrend, although it is looking stronger than equities and the 10-year for sure. Most of the plunge in copper occurred Thursday and Friday. This lines up with equities and crappy debt.
Lastly – the rape and pillage of the taxpayer-funded Strategic Petroleum Reserve continues – it even increased this week, to 7.2 million barrels. President Grandpa’s WEF-trained handlers are steadily and deliberately stripping the U.S. of its strategic petroleum reserve, which is actually good, since once the we run out, America won’t be a superpower any longer (good luck running the Army and Air Force on “green energy” – we don’t have Tesla-constructed M1A1 tanks), and better yet, the remaining lower-and-middle-class Plebes will be forced to buy Tesla cars – even though there aren’t enough raw materials to make enough of them to make a dent. (Tesla worldwide production: 100,000 per month – 1.2 million per year. Contrast with the U.S. auto fleet: back in 2015, it numbered 263 million. That yields a 219 year timeframe to replace the current American auto fleet.)
The recklessness of this policy either speaks to the inadequacy/technical illiteracy of the WEF Young Global Leader programs, or it’s a deliberate “destroy the U.S.” policy put in place by that same WEF. It’s hard to tell which one from a distance. Heck, maybe they select and train the YGL’s to be stupid, and simply instruct them on what stupid policy to enact. Paid for by You and Me.
Each week, the draw against the irreplaceable SPR continues to increase; it was 1.3% this week alone. “Climate Change.” Or something.
Ukraine:
- My favorite fact-checked conspiracy theory, now admitted as true. Pentagon Finally Admits Running 46 Biolabs In Ukraine “But it was all for world peace! Trust us!”
- The Ukraine war is running out of steam; MSM has gone from “Ghost of Kiev” fictional puff pieces to the following excuse-in-advance: Ukraine’s At Risk of Losing War With Russia: Military Official [Newsweek]. I think they’re narrative-prepping us for the loss to come.
- Insight into the WEF’s control network: BlackRock chief Larry Fink says Ukraine war marks end of globalisation. This will be inflationary. (It’s much cheaper to outsource all the good manufacturing jobs to China, isn’t it, Larry?) Oh, and by the way, Larry likes digital currencies.
China:
- File this under: “just when I thought I was out…they Pull Me Back In!”: Shanghai Returns To Lockdown For Mass Testing Just Days After Reopening. Engineer Xi apparently doesn’t want one single Covid case to exist in China. They’re just too embarrassing – possibly due to each case proving-by-example that the CCP’s vaccines simply don’t work – Engineer Xi as a result must punish citizens who get sick, because each sick Chinese citizen is a direct, visible embarrassment to the CCP’s (failed) mass vaccination program. And/or “Zero Covid” provides a cover for the CCP’s-forced-collapse of China’s 30-year monster construction/property bubble, in which most of the wealth of the middle class Chinese people is stored, and soon to be destroyed. Construction = 30% of China’s GDP, for those keeping score at home. Word of the Day: “Mandate of Heaven.” My latest guesses.
- It turns out, sending all your manufacturing to your greatest adversary comes with some surprising and unexpected problems. Perhaps the whole “outsourcing” thing requires a rethink. Second word of the day: “friend-shoring.”
- Population growth may be dangerous – but in the opposite direction that we expect, in Japan, and (formerly) one-child-policy China. “Elon Sounds Dire Warnings about Problem Afflicting China, South Korea, Japan, Others”. One tweet: “At risk of stating the obvious, unless something changes to cause the birth rate to exceed the death rate, Japan will eventually cease to exist. This would be a great loss for the world.” Germany has the same issues too, as does Italy. How much worse does that population-decline issue get in a post-vax world?
Health:
- Another week – now 1000 cases – but still no monkeypox deaths. Perhaps the elites didn’t want this lab-leaked version to be as deadly? Maybe they don’t like the ugly pockmark-scars? Maybe they’re scared of the smallpox shot? It’s hard to know. Seems like it will be a hard slog to fabricate a pandemic with zero deaths.
- SADS in the UK: Healthy young people are dying suddenly and unexpectedly from a mysterious syndrome. Thank heavens for National Healthcare. They’ll search high and low. Except they’ll rule out vaccination, so the cause will remain a mystery. “Healthy young people have a lot of heart attacks and strokes too,” they’ll conclude. Must be Climate Change.
- The US has a “very serious” problem with Covid-19 vaccine uptake, we are told. Looks like word is out. Some interesting numbers: “at least one booster”: U.S. 48.7%, Canada 55.5%, UK 69.6%. I’m sure those numbers are not driving the SADS outbreak in the UK – it must be “something else.”
- Bad Cattitude provided some charts that lines up the vax drive with the disability numbers. (vax=red line, self-reported labor survey disability=blue line). It isn’t perfect, but it does look pretty compelling to me.
- The FDA actually approved Novavax. Does anyone care? Based on the above numbers, probably not. The long delay in approval suggests it (“sadly”) might not be nearly as harmful as the others. At least the lucky injectees get a fixed number of toxic spike proteins, rather than a possibly-unlimited number/unlimited duration of spikes from the mRNA shots.
Climate Change:
- Private and Corporate jets to escape EU’s “green” aviation fuel tax. ALT: how to signal that you’re fully behind other people’s “Climate Change” enforced sacrifices.
U.S. Politics:
- Here’s a difficult feat: Middleton allegedly managed to hang himself from a tree and simultaneously shoot himself with a shotgun. Verdict: suicide. Possibly related: Mr. Middleton was the original link between Bill Clinton and Jeffrey (who Didn’t Kill Himself) Epstein…more detail in the article. As noted, there’s also still that “client list” being offered by Ghislaine Maxwell hovering there in the background.
- Scapegoat of the Week: oil companies! President Grandpa’s handlers are desperate to blame others for their (carefully designed) energy shortage. After eliminating drilling licenses, stopping pipelines, and imposing maximize self-harm “sanctions” on oil producers that exacerbate the oil shortages (Putin!!), the Grandpa-Handlers have belatedly realized the public are holding them accountable. So, Grandpa’s Teleprompter has come up with a new scapegoat: Exxon! Punish Exxon until it invests and produces more oil? Because – Climate Change? No wait. That’s not right.
- Becoming a “domestic terrorist” just got easier: Whitney Webb lays out the details. My sense: the gang in charge are really getting desperate. They tried Janky, and now this. “If you disagree with us, you’re a terrorist!” Because – democracy! Sure to help them all in November.
- FBI is purging conservatives. But – unintended consequence – six FBI whistleblowers have now come forward. I haven’t heard about FBI whistleblowers in forever. Clearly, the purge is a bridge too far. There have been a lot of those bridges-too-far recently. I suspect as November gets closer, we’ll see more and more whistleblowers.
Vax failure, 2+ million vax-caused disability, vax-caused deaths, VAIDS (really: reduced T-cell counts resulting in lower resistance towards all sorts of disease), generation-high inflation, generation-high gas prices (“just get a Tesla”, they chirp, unconsciously channeling the memorable “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”), the Afghanistan disaster, and soon, the coming-to-an-end Ukraine War disaster, alongside this year’s (related, impending) global famine.
All of this stuff is just a bunch of shoes waiting to drop. What will be the catalyst? Say an important CDC/NIH/FDA whistleblower who wants to get ahead of the prosecutions-to-come? Someone sure will. Those six FBI whistleblowers are examples of this very outcome.
The more I watch the WEF-trained gang in charge, and/or the corrupt Pharma servants at CDC/FDA/NIH, the more I think they’re just not that bright. “Don’t they realize this ends badly?” But like Ed counsels us, we have to “think like a criminal” whose only response to an increasingly desperate situation involves doubling down. And besides, their tricks have all worked (mostly) great up until now. I am reminded of Hitler, hiding in his bunker as the Russians slowly approached Berlin in 1945, who somehow managed to convince himself that Germany’s “secret weapons” would still win the war. And, he brought everyone around him along by sheer force of will, right until he killed himself. “Vaccines! Boosters! New variants!”
After Hitler’s suicide, Germany sued for peace, but had to accept Unconditional Surrender. And then came Nuremberg.
