Okay folks, I keep saying “it’s showtime!” but it’s such a big deal and so hard to wrap our heads around (at least for me) and it touches on so many belief centers that it bears as much repetition as it takes.
Takes for what?
For us all to take it seriously enough to legitimately alter our actions.
I think things are going to get really rough. As in “cascading cross defaults.”
By that, I mean a supply chain situation whereby lack of Part or Substance A results in loss of Part or Substance B which leads to a loss of Part or Substance C which then prevents the manufacture of Part or Substance A.
Now, because there’s no “A” the entire system comes to a grinding halt and it’s going to be very hard to get a complex supply chain back up and running.
There are a number of supply chain and computer chip manufacturing experts here on the site, so I’ll let them correct or add to anything I might say, but the basic idea is that the length of the supply chain for any assembled product requiring computer chips is many tens of thousands of miles long.
Let’s imagine a computer with a monitor and printer. I’ve highlighted one possible path for those components and as you can see as you trace it out, that the systems sitting on a desk in central Europe might have traveled 30,000 miles or more.
