The pension crisis here is as bad as it sounds. The unions here are in complete control of Illinois.
An interesting article came out a couple of weeks ago right after they passed this massive, massive tax increase. A record number of state legislators — a quarter of the House — said that they were not going to run for re election. Actually a few resigned on the spot. Why? If they run for reelection and lose, their pensions will be less than it would be otherwise.
