In this week's Off The Cuff podcast, Chris and Mish Shedlock discuss:

  • Part Time Nation
    • Our job market has been hollowed out
  • Emergency Fed Meetings
    • What exactly is going on behind the scenes?
  • Lower Returns & Lower Prices
    • Pretty much what we have to look forward to from these markets
  • Chinese Capital Flight
    • Driving so much of today's overvaluations

It's been a busy few weeks for Janet Yellen. She's had a number of off-cycle meetings with her Federal Reserve staff as well as President Obama. What has merited such a flurry of unusual meetings?

We don't know. And it doesn't look like the Fed is going to divulge it reasons anytime soon.

But many are wondering if this is all in preparation for a big news 'surprise' in the near future. Possibly a big bank, likely European, that needs to be bailed out (or 'in'). Or a re-seizure of the credit markets. Either way, the prognosticators aren't offering too many sanguine alternatives.

Chris is still building his short position.

Using U-3…yes tight.  But that stat is useless.   All USA manufacturing is hurting.   CAT just released horrible guidance.
